LANETT, Ala. (AP) - Police in the eastern Alabama town of Lanett say they’re investigating the death of a 76-year-old woman as a homicide.

Lanett Police Chief Angie Spates said 76-year-old Rosie Ramsey was found dead inside her home on South 15th Street Tuesday morning.

The Opelika-Auburn News reports (https://bit.ly/1BF6Xer) that officers found the woman when they responded to a report of an unresponsive person at the residence.

Spates said the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is assisting with the investigation. She said the body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Lanett is on the Alabama-Georgia line, about 80 miles southeast of Atlanta.
