COLCHESTER, Vt. (AP) - An independent investigation has found that between two and 11 firearms and $12,229 in cash were stolen or are missing from the Colchester Police Department’s evidence locker.

The investigation followed the November arrest of former police Cpl. Tyler Kinney, who was in charge of the department’s evidence locker before his arrest.

The town and police released the report on Wednesday.

Prosecutors have already dismissed a number of cases that Kinney was involved with.

The Burlington Free Press (https://bfpne.ws/1sZrAz0 ) is reporting the worst-case scenario in the fallout of Kinney’s arrest shows there could be impacts on dozens of drug cases.

Kinney, of Jericho, has pleaded not guilty to federal drug charges following his arrest.

He is now free pending trial. He completed a three-week drug treatment program.
