LOS ANGELES (AP) - Jurors deadlocked in the retrial of a reputed gang member charged with killing a 5-year-old boy in 2010 as he was posing for pictures in his Spider-Man costume on Halloween.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert Perry ruled Tuesday after jurors remained split on murder and attempted murder charges against 25-year-old Leonard Hall Jr.

City News Service says the panel was divided 10-2, with the majority favoring a guilty verdict.

It was the second time a jury has deadlocked on Hall’s case.

The boy - Aaron Shannon Jr. - was killed by a gunshot to the head in the backyard of his South Los Angeles home on Oct. 31, 2010. His grandfather and uncle were wounded.

Hall’s alleged accomplice earlier pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and attempted murder.
