LOS ANGELES (AP) - A Los Angeles driver involved in a crash that killed two passengers and seriously injured two others has been sentenced to two years and eight months in state prison.

Twenty-four-year-old Jeanette Romero pleaded no contest last July to two counts of vehicular manslaughter.

Authorities say Romero’s car crashed on a freeway after she celebrated 22-year-old Ana Cuadra’s birthday at a downtown Los Angeles club with three other friends in November 2013.

Cuadra and 23-year-old Blanca Belman-Almanza were killed.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office says Romero was sentenced on Tuesday.
