MAGNOLIA, Ark. (AP) - Southern Arkansas University plans to host a weeklong criminal justice youth academy later this year.

The school’s first academy of this kind runs June 7-13 and 40 applicants are expected to participate.

The cadets will be divided into five-member teams for the week’s learning competitions and each member of the winning team will earn a $500 scholarship to SAU.

Applicants need to meet these requirements: be 14-18 years old; have a C average or higher on last report card; no police record; a recommendation letter from school, law enforcement officer or community leader; willingness to work as a team and an interest in the criminal justice field.
