WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (AP) - Walnut Ridge Police Chief Richy Thatcher has resigned.

Mayor Charles Snapp told reporters that Thatcher resigned Tuesday, effective immediately. Snapp said Thatcher was not removed from his position and that he gave no reason for the resignation.

Efforts to contact Thatcher were unsuccessful.

Snapp said retired law enforcement officer Glendal Floyd of Walnut Ridge will serve as interim police chief while a permanent replacement is sought.
