WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter for shooting his wife has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore says Jose Contreras of Yonkers was sentenced Wednesday. He pleaded guilty in November.

DiFiore says the shooting followed years of arguments and abuse.

Sharon Contreras was found in an apartment building hallway in October 2013. She had been shot in the chest.

Surveillance video captured her husband going through the lobby covered in blood.

Police canvassing the area spotted Contreras trying to hide in the shadows near storefronts.

A police dog found the revolver in a vacant lot.
