KINGWOOD, W.Va. (AP) - Forty-five beagles and beagle mixes are finding new homes in Preston County.

The director of the Preston County Animal Shelter says the nearly four dozen dogs were surrendered Wednesday after their owner said he could no longer care for the animals.

Director Brittaney Shearer told The Dominion Post (https://bit.ly/1uuddUl) the man told her he was “overwhelmed.” Some of the beagles have already left the shelter for rescue organizations.

Shearer said the dogs are 4 years and younger.
