PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Trial in federal court has been delayed for a former South Dakota county prosecutor accused of child rape.

Former Walworth County State’s Attorney Christopher Jansen was to stand trial in federal court starting Feb. 10. KCCR radio reports the trial has been delayed two months to give his attorney more time to prepare. Prosecutors did not object.

Jansen is accused of raping a child younger than 13 in Hughes County. He faces sexual exploitation and child pornography charges in federal court. He also faces charges in Hughes County, and remains in custody.
