WEST POINT, Miss. (AP) - A West Point man has been sentenced to serve 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to domestic assault charges.

The Daily Times Leader reports (https://bit.ly/1E5xAKy ) that 46-year-old Edward Cox was sentenced Tuesday in Clay County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors say Cox pleaded guilty to two counts of domestic aggravated assault involving an Aug. 30, 2010 incident.

Authorities say Cox stabbed his wife and son at his home. The victims were taken to North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point and recovered from their wounds.

Court records show Cox’s son told investigators that Cox ambushed his wife while she was unlocking the door to the home.

Cox turned himself in early the following morning.
