NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) - A 25-year-old woman has been sentenced to life in prison after a state appeals court earlier struck down her prior punishment for a 2005 murder-for-hire scheme that left an East Texas man dead.

The sentence Wednesday for Shaina Sepulvado includes the possibility of parole after she serves at least 30 years.

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals last month ruled that her constitutional rights were violated when she was initially sentenced in 2007 to life without parole. The court found that Sepulvado, a juvenile at the time, should have had parole as a consideration in her sentencing for capital murder.

The Daily Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/15g7mpt ) Sepulvado was among six people arrested following James Kelly’s killing. His wife, Marcia Kelly, is serving a life term for orchestrating the shooting in Cushing.
