GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (AP) - Orange County authorities say a man suspected of driving drunk has been hospitalized with head injuries after his out-of-control car plowed into a plumbing store in Garden Grove.

City News Service reports a passenger in the white Lexus fled the scene after the pre-dawn crash Friday.

The 25-year-old driver also tried to run away but was caught in a nearby parking lot.

Police Sgt. Carl Whitney says the car came to rest inside the store, about 40 yards from the street. The interior of the store was extensively damaged.

Whitney says the driver, an Anaheim resident, was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
