MONTROSE, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say a 13-year-old boy was killed when he hit a tree while skiing at Crested Butte Mountain Resort.

The Denver Post reports (https://dpo.st/1uV5v65 ) Luis Olide was skiing Lower Treasury, an intermediate trail, when he crashed at about 2 p.m. Friday. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The Gunnison County coroner’s office says the boy, who was wearing a helmet, died of multiple upper-body injuries.

The Montrose Daily Press reports he was a student at Olathe Middle School.
