YORK, Pa. (AP) - A man has been convicted of first-degree murder in a shooting death following an early morning fight at a central Pennsylvania birthday party more than a year ago.

The York Daily Record (https://bit.ly/1zhnHZd ) reports that jurors in York County deliberated for about 8½ hours before convicting 30-year-old Ruben Delvalles-Vincente on Monday in the December 2013 slaying of 19-year-old Carlos Ramos-Diaz.

Police allege that the two men got into a dispute that continued outside in the back of the property.

He defendant took the stand Thursday and said he was jumped by a group and shot the victim in self-defense as they struggled over a gun.

But 22-year-old Victor Martinez-Raices, who is also charged in the case, testified Friday as a rebuttal witness and corroborated the prosecutor’s version of events.
