BONNERS FERRY, Idaho (AP) - A rockslide on train tracks in northern Idaho delayed 15 trains.

BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas said the slide occurred in a canyon east of Bonners Ferry, along the Kootenai River, at about 11 p.m. Sunday. It covered a 70-foot stretch of the railway’s tracks with rocks and debris 7 to 9 feet deep.

Melonas said the slide did not reach the river.

Crews using bulldozers and other equipment worked through the night and cleared the main line tracks by Monday morning. Melonas said the nearby side tracks would be cleared by the afternoon.
