COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) - Ecolab will lay off 66 workers in Columbus over the next several months as the company shifts some of its operations to a new facility in Jacksonville, Florida.

Company spokesman Roman Blahoski said Columbus employees were informed of the decision this past week. He says the company is moving its manufacturing and logistics and some related positions to Florida.

The transfer is expected to be completed by fall.

Blahoski tells The Commercial Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1H0ohhn ) there are no current plans to transfer jobs in research and development, customer service, information technology, finance and regulatory. Once the transfer is completed, 86 employees will remain in Columbus.

Ecolab specializes in providing cleaning and sanitizing products and programs, primarily to customers in the food and beverage processing, hospitality, health care, government and education.
