GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - The Colorado State Patrol says an elderly man and a woman walking a dog were seriously injured when they were hit by a pickup truck in Clifton.

They were pinned between the Ford F-250, bushes and a fence Saturday afternoon and were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the truck, 40-year-old Shane Love of Grand Junction, was arrested.

The patrol told KKCO-TV (https://bit.ly/1uvcOeL ) that Love was showing signs of intoxication and was taken to the hospital for a blood test. He was being held in the Mesa County jail. It’s not known whether he has a lawyer yet.

The dog survived and was turned over to animal control.
