VERONA, Miss. (AP) - Upholstered furniture maker United Furniture Industries is locating a manufacturing operation in Verona.

Gov. Phil Bryant and company officials made the announced Monday.

United Furniture will locate in the former Lane Furniture facility.

The project represents a $2.75 million corporate investment and will create 300 new jobs, bringing the company’s total employment in Mississippi to about 2,000.

United Furniture currently maintains operations in several Mississippi locations, including Amory, Hatley, Nettleton, Okolona and Vardaman.

United Furniture CFO Doug Hanby says the company’s decision to purchase the Verona facility is due to an increase in demand and production.

The Mississippi Development Authority provided $500,000 for facility renovations and training assistance valued at $801,500.

United Furniture was formed in 2000 through the merger and acquisitions of Parkhill Furniture Company, Comfort Furniture and United Chair.
