AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Dozens of Maine schools and businesses are planning to close their doors due to an impending storm that’s expected to bring snow and high winds and make traveling dangerous.

Public schools in Gorham, Biddeford, Falmouth and Saco are among those that will be closed on Tuesday.

The U.S. District Court in both Portland and Bangor will also be closed, along with many businesses and organizations, like the Kennebec Valley YMCA.

Several cities and towns have put in place parking bans. Portland’s citywide ban begins Monday at 10 p.m. and runs through 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Forecasters say that snow will begin falling early Tuesday in coastal Maine and will last into Wednesday morning. High winds are expected to result in blowing snow and whiteout conditions.
