CLARKSDALE, Miss. (AP) - Oklahoma-based Texoma Peanut Company has sold its peanut buying and drying facility in Clarksdale to Archer Daniel Midland.

ADM spokesman Jackie Anderson tells The Clarksdale Press Register (https://bit.ly/188YJPE ) that it’s unlikely the company will cut any of the workforce at the facility. The facility originally opened outside of Clarksdale two years ago.

Terms of the sale were not made public.

Texoma declared bankruptcy last year. Golden Peanut and Tree Nuts, a subsidiary of Chicago-based ADM, bought many of Texoma’s properties, including the Clarksdale operation. Eleven people are employed in Clarksdale.

The company paid Coahoma County $2 million as part of the deal.

Anderson says ADM is evaluating how best to incorporate the Clarksdale facility into its operations.
