PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A Mobridge man who pleaded guilty to assaulting a law officer has been sentenced to half a year in federal prison.

Authorities say 22-year-old Ed LeClair on July 27, 2014, assaulted a Dewey County deputy sheriff who was helping federal law officers arrest him at a beer tent during a city celebration in Timber Lake on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says LeClair will be on supervised release for a year following his prison time.
