BURLINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Police in Burlington have accused a man of killing a dog while it was inside a parked car at his home because it wouldn’t stop barking.

Area media outlets report 56-year-old Timothy Enoch surrendered to authorities at the Burlington Police Department after the incident Sunday night.

According to police, the dog was in a vehicle parked on Enoch’s property. The vehicle and dog belonged to a guest at the site. Police said Enoch said the dog wouldn’t stop barking, so he shot it while it was inside the vehicle.

Enoch is charged with violating Susie’s Law, a felony cruelty to animals charge, discharging a firearm in the city limits and damage to personal property.

Enoch is jailed under a $7,500 secured bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
