PALMDALE, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials say a 3-year-old boy is expected to recover after being hit by gunfire that came through the walls of his Palmdale home.
Lt. Adam Ellison says a bullet struck the boy in the back while he slept Sunday night. He says because the boy was wrapped in a blanket, the impact caused a large bruise or a burn but the bullet did not penetrate his body.
Another bullet was found lodged in his parents’ mattress.
The child was treated at a hospital.
Witnesses reported hearing three to five gunshots in the area.
No suspect has been identified, and the motive of the shooting remains under investigation.
