AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Two people have been arrested after Austin police say they crashed a stolen charter bus into a fast food restaurant and led officers on a brief chase.

Police received a report Monday afternoon about a bus attempting to pass through the restaurant’s drive-thru. They say someone driving the bus hit the building, fled the scene and refused to stop for police.

Officers began a slow-speed pursuit of the bus, which eventually pulled over. But the man and woman inside rebuffed demands to exit the vehicle.

Authorities say the two later surrendered to police after a standoff lasting about 2 1/2 hours with officers.

No charges have been filed, but police say they could face charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading in a motor vehicle.
