BOONVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - State police say they were called to a central New York elementary school after staff members found two bullets inside the building.

Troopers say employees at Boonville Elementary School in northern Oneida County reported finding two live rounds of .22-caliber ammunition at the entrance to the gym around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday.

The school was placed into lockdown as troopers and sheriff’s deputies conducted a search of the school with staff members.

Troopers say no additional items of concern were discovered and there was no reported threat made against the school.

Boonville is a rural town on the southwest boundary of the Adirondack Park, 50 miles northwest of Syracuse.
