STORM THAT BLITZED NEW ENGLAND, LONG ISLAND SPARES PHILADELPHIA

The National Weather Service projects snow fall totals today of 3 to 5 inches, down from forecasts over the weekend of a foot or more. Still, all public and Catholic schools and city offices in Philadelphia remained closed. Nonessential state workers in the city were told to come into work two hours late.

SENATE REPUBLICANS SUE NEW DEMOCRATIC GOV. TOM WOLF OVER OPEN-RECORDS FIRING

The lawsuit filed in Commonwealth Court contends that Erik Arneson, an appointee of Republican Gov. Tom Corbett, is entitled to serve a full six-year term. Arneson is a veteran Senate aide who helped write the Right-to-Know law passed by the state in 2008.

EX-GIRLFRIEND SAYS SHE SAW HUGO SELENSKI WITH TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WHILE HE WAS UNEMPLOYED

Prosecutors claim the Wilkes-Barre-area man got the money from strangling a drug dealing pharmacist and his girlfriend in 2002 before burying the bodies in his yard. Selenski could face the death penalty if convicted.

Richard DeCoatsworth was sentenced for assaulting a live-in girlfriend after he was cleared of a string of felony charges. DeCoatsworth had sat with first lady Michelle Obama at the 2009 State of the Union address after he was shot in the face while chasing a suspect. His lawyers have said he became addicted to painkillers and heroin afterward. He was acquitted of charges he raped prostitutes at gunpoint.
