AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - A Texas-based contractor that mysteriously left its offices in a tornado-stricken Missouri city has now lost its contracts with the city of Amarillo.

The city announced Tuesday that it was cutting ties with Wallace Bajjali Development Partners of Sugar Land.

The firm had promised to manage business development in both downtown Amarillo and Joplin, Missouri, which is still rebuilding from a massive 2011 tornado that killed more than 150 people.

But officials in Joplin discovered that Wallace Bajjali closed its office and appeared to leave town. They later found that Wallace Bajjali’s two managing partners resigned, and said Monday that they’re reviewing their contract with the company.

Amarillo officials say their contracts with the firm can be terminated, including a deal to build a multimillion-dollar parking garage downtown.
