BOSTON (AP) - Boston Mayor Martin Walsh is maintaining driving and street parking bans as the city digs out from a 2-foot snowfall that still won’t be over for several hours.

The mayor said Tuesday afternoon that schools already closed for Wednesday might be closed again on Thursday depending on how street cleanup goes.

Walsh said it’s hoped major roads will be cleared by Wednesday morning and the snow emergency can be lifted later in the day.

He said city hall will be closed Wednesday except for emergency personnel. He encouraged businesses to let employees work from home if they can.

The mayor was asked about the contentious Boston tradition of saving a parking space you have shoveled. He said, “If you spent 10 hours shoveling it out, it’s yours for a couple of days.”
