MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (AP) - Brazil is accusing a Uruguayan player of racially abusing one of its players at the South America Under-20 Championship.

Brazil coach Alexandre Gallo made the accusation after their 0-0 draw late Monday in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo. Gallo said Uruguay’s Facundo Castro repeatedly called Brazil’s Marcos Guilherme a “monkey.”

Gallo said his players “were shocked,” and the Brazilian Football Confederation was considering legal action to send a message against racism.

Guilherme, who has three goals in the tournament, said he was offended at least five different times after entering the match at halftime.

Castro was not immediately available for comment, but his teammates said they were not aware of any insults against anybody during the game.
