HOUSTON (AP) - A Staffordshire bull terrier has died after being shot at a Houston-area dog park in a dispute over whether the pet threatened people and other animals.

Prosecutors in Harris County on Monday said investigators are reviewing the shooting. Nobody has been charged.

The 2-year-old dog named Diesel was shot Sunday morning at the Bay Area Dog Park and died at a veterinary clinic. KPRC-TV reports the dog was shot three times.

Owner Randall Livingston says Diesel loved everything and everybody.

KTRK-TV reports the man who shot the dog has a concealed handgun permit and said the animal acted aggressive so he defended his wife and his pet.

Park rules says owners or handlers are responsible for the actions and behavior of their dogs at all times.
