CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Authorities have recovered the body of a 64-year-old Casper man who was reported missing after he failed to return home after taking his dogs for a walk.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1zuYF90 ) Bernie Bickels’ body was found Tuesday in the North Platte River. He was reported missing at 6 p.m. Saturday after family members found his empty pickup truck with the driver’s side door open at Edness Kimball Watkins State Park east of Evansville.

On Sunday, searchers found the body of one of Bickels’ black Labradors in the river, downstream from where the truck was parked.

Rachel Bickels says the family feared her father fell into the river while trying to rescue a dog that had fallen through the ice.
