TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - A Mooreville woman is charged with allowing minors to drink alcohol during a Friday night birthday party for her teenage son.

Authorities say as many as 70 underage individuals attended the party where they say drugs and alcohol present.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says 47-year-old Angie Floyd is charged with violation of the Social Hosting Law. She is free on $6,000 bond.

Johnson says the party was advertised on social media. When deputies shut down the party, Johnson says officers found marijuana, alcohol and two guns inside the home.

Mississippi’s “social host” law - passed in 2011 - punishes adults who knowingly host gatherings where people younger than 21 consume alcohol. It carries penalties of up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine for the adult.
