HOLIDAY, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Highway Patrol says a man drove off the road and hit his pregnant girlfriend with his car before fleeing the area.

The incident happened Monday afternoon as 32-year-old Crystal Noordhuizen was walking along the shoulder of a road near Holiday north of Tampa. Troopers say 33-year-old Justin Colby drove his Dodge Charger into her, then crashed into a pole. He got out of the car, walked home and left on a motorcycle.

Deputies arrested Colby Monday. He’s charged with two counts of attempted murder.

The Tampa Tribune (https://bit.ly/15Ogkvc ) reports Noordhuizen, who is seven months pregnant, argued with Colby before the incident. She was treated for minor injuries.

Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies say video surveillance from a nearby home shows the car hitting her.

Colby remained in jail Tuesday.
