CORINTH, Miss. (AP) - Alcorn County Chancery Clerk Bobby Marolt will not run for a third term.

Marolt spent 30-1/2 years as an instructor at the local vocational center before making a bid for chancery clerk in 2007. He was re-elected in 2011.

Marolt tells The Daily Corinthian (https://bit.ly/1zp7XDo ) he appreciates the community’s encouragement and the decision not to run comes after many months of thought and prayerful consideration.

The qualifying date for candidates is Friday, Feb. 27.

Political party primaries are in August. The general election is in November.

The new term begins in January.
