OGDEN, Utah (AP) - Authorities in Utah say a former Ogden police officer has been charged with felony drug distribution to obtain the painkiller Oxycodone.

Ogden police issued a statement Tuesday about the investigation of 29-year-old Don Johnson, who resigned Jan. 15.

Police say Johnson had been employed as an officer with the city since August 2008.

Ogden police say they turned over the investigation to Layton police in October to avoid a conflict of interest, and the Davis County attorney’s office charged Johnson last Friday.

Johnson had been assigned to the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force.

The Salt Lake Tribune says an attorney representing Johnson didn’t immediately reply to a message.
