SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber has had skin cancer removed from his face.

The Democratic governor had an obvious scar on his left cheek when he spoke to Oregon reporters and editors Tuesday at a forum organized by The Associated Press.

Kitzhaber’s spokeswoman, Amy Wojcicki (woh-CHICK-ee) says the cancerous lesion was removed on Monday.

Kitzhaber’s office said earlier this month that he was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, a less severe form of skin cancer.
