BATAVIA, Ohio (AP) - Designated parking for veterans awarded the Purple Heart military medal have recently gone up at some parking lots in a southwestern Ohio county.

Clermont County has installed Purple Heart parking signs in the lots of about four county buildings including those that house county administrative offices and the Veterans Service Commission.

Those who have received the military decoration awarded to those injured or killed in action can park in the designated parking spaces closer to building entrances. The parking spaces also provide a way to honor those veterans for their service.

The signs that have popped up in other counties and cities around the country are provided by the Wounded Warriors Family Support group.

A Clermont County spokeswoman says the national organization provides the signs free, except for shipping.
