EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Police in Eugene, Oregon, say that when an argument between a woman and her boyfriend escalated into shoving and hitting, the boyfriend’s dog bit the woman.

The Register-Guard reports (https://is.gd/lXK4qg ) the 26-year-old victim was taken to a hospital Sunday night and police were notified of an assault that included a dog bite to the leg.

Police say the woman reported she returned home upset late Sunday night and tried to wake up her boyfriend, who then yelled and shoved her. Police say the woman began to hit her boyfriend, and his dog bit her.

A 29-year-old Eugene man was arrested on a Linn County fourth-degree assault warrant. No new charges were immediately filed in the Sunday night incident.
