RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Richmond officials are renaming the city’s courthouse in honor of the first black mayor and his brother.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1H4Qqnz ) reports that City Council approved the name change on Monday.

The Manchester Courthouse will become the Henry L. Marsh, III, and Harold M. Marsh, Sr., Manchester Courthouse.

Henry Marsh III was elected as the city’s first black mayor in 1977. He retired from the Virginia Senate last summer. His brother, Harold Marsh Sr., was a lawyer and a substitute judge who was murdered in 1997.
