MONTAUK, N.Y. (AP) - The National Weather Service says eastern Long Island is experiencing blizzard conditions.

The agency says Suffolk County officially met the conditions of a blizzard at 2 a.m. Tuesday.

A blizzard warning remains in effect in Suffolk County until 6 p.m.

There have been sustained winds gusting to 35 mph, blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Some areas of Suffolk, especially the East End, were especially hard hit. Snow accumulations have exceeded 20 inches in some places.

The weather service says travel conditions remain extremely dangerous in Suffolk.
