MOUNT ANGEL, Ore. (AP) - Oregon State Police and Marion County sheriff’s officers are investigating the death of a woman who was a passenger in a pickup truck that fled from police in the small town of Mount Angel and later crashed.

State police Lt. Josh Brooks said it appears that a Mount Angel officer tried to stop the pickup Monday evening but the driver raced off and later crashed. A juvenile male passenger was taken to a Salem hospital with serious injuries. A woman passenger in the rear seat was dead at the scene. She was not immediately identified.

Brooks says the 17-year-old male driver fled.
