CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming’s unemployment rate fell to 4.2 percent in December, marking a slight decline compared to the previous year.

The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services said Tuesday that the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell from 4.5 percent in November to 4.2 percent in December. The state unemployment rate had been 4.7 percent in September and October.

Officials say employment rose by 815 individuals from November to December. Teton County’s unemployment rate fell from 7.9 percent to 4.8 percent as the winter tourist season boosted employment.

From December 2013 to December 2014, Wyoming’s unemployment rate fell by 0.2 percentage points.

The Research & Planning Division won’t release its January unemployment rate until mid-March.
