LAKE WYLIE, S.C. (AP) - Duke Energy plans to upgrade the sirens around the Catawba Nuclear Station in York County in the next few months.

The Herald of Rock Hill reported (https://bit.ly/15TW23q) the company is making improvements to all 89 sirens around the plant on lake Wylie.

Spokesman Scott Andresen says power supplies are being improved for the sirens.

Work is being done one siren at a time, with crews making sure the sirens work.

Duke has the sirens in York County in South Carolina as well as Gaston and Mecklenburg counties in North Carolina to warn of any potential problems at the plant.
