DENVER (AP) - A man involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a teenager in the Denver suburb of Wheat Ridge has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.

KUSA-TV reports (https://on9news.tv/1K1ynL5 ) Alton Kirkland was sentenced Tuesday for the May 2 death of 18-year-old Jordan Sprouse. Kirkland previously pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Prosecutors say he was drunk when he sped through a red light and crashed into Sprouse’s car. Kirkland’s girlfriend and her two young children also were in his car and were injured.
