HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (AP) - Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone says towns and villages are doing their best to get side streets “up and running” in the aftermath of the blizzard.

Bellone said Wednesday that plow operators and emergency responders have been praising the “very effective” decision to close the roads to the public during the height of the storm.

Bellone noted that there could be more snow every few days in the weeks to come.

He says officials are working to give Long Island’s hard-hit east end whatever assets it needs.
