CINCINNATI (AP) - The Cincinnati Human Relations Commission wants a discussion on social media about ending violence against transgender people.

The Twitter “Town Hall” is set for 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

The commission wants to raise awareness of violence against transgender people and have conversations about ways to end it.

The commission’s announcement also cites the high rate of suicides and suicide attempts among transgender youth. It noted that the Dec. 28 apparent suicide of 17-year-old Leelah Alcorn has received national attention, particularly on social media. The transgender youth lived in suburban Cincinnati.

The Twitter session will use the hashtags of #AllLivesMatter, #YouthTransAwareness and #TransJustice101.
