ABILENE, Texas (AP) - Authorities are investigating how a toddler in a medically induced coma at a Lubbock hospital suffered her injuries.

Fisher County Sheriff J.A. Robinson told the Abilene Reporter-News (https://bit.ly/15Xj2ha ) that the 18-month-old was taken to Lubbock last week.

A deputy previously told the newspaper that the girl was “severely bruised and bleeding from the ears” when she was initially brought to an emergency room in Sweetwater.

No charges have been filed.

The child reportedly was at her mother’s boyfriend’s house between Sweetwater and Roby when she was injured.

Sheriff’s officials have questioned the girl’s mother and father and also the mother’s boyfriend.

No names have been released.

Robinson says investigators want to search the boyfriend’s house.

The Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation.
