FALLON, Nev. (AP) - A 56-year-old former Nevada transportation supply technician in Fallon has been sentenced to 1½ to 4 years in prison and ordered to repay more than $250,000 after admitting he misappropriated state funds over a four-year span.

State Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt announced Wednesday that Tal Pierre Smith was sentenced Tuesday by Tenth Judicial District Court Judge Thomas Stockard in Fallon.

Smith previously pleaded guilty to one felony charge of fraudulent appropriation of property.

Laxalt says Smith bought and sold items between January 2010 and December 2013 and pocketed the money until the scheme was discovered when unauthorized equipment was delivered while Smith was on vacation.
