COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A band of freezing rain is creating slow traffic conditions and accidents across Ohio.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington says a line of rain stretching from the Mansfield area to Portsmouth resulted in weather advisories for much of Ohio Thursday morning.

Dozens of traffic delays were reported around Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton and Cleveland, with traffic on some highways moving 25 mph or slower Thursday morning.

Weather service meteorologist Julie Reed says central Ohio was experiencing the heaviest precipitation during the morning commute.

The conditions also resulted in dozens of school delays and closings throughout the state.

The weather service says temperatures would rise and the rain would continue to move east out of Ohio by late Thursday morning and into the afternoon.
