CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say a 12-year-old girl stabbed a 13-year-old boy at Lookout Valley Middle/High School in Chattanooga.

According to WRCB-TV (https://bit.ly/15ZBoPG), the incident happened Thursday morning and is still being investigated.

A call to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was not immediately returned to The Associated Press.

Authorities said the boy was stabbed twice with a knife. He is said to be in serious, but stable condition at a local hospital.

The girl has been charged with attempted criminal homicide and carrying a weapon on school property.



Authorities say the school has been placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure.
